Surendranagar
Top Gujarati folk singer Farida Mir’s sister Abeda Mir has accepted Hindu faith in Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s ongoing ‘Ghar Vapsi'(home coming) drive, reported a local newspaper today.
This development took place in Surendranagar district of Gujarat where Vishwa Hindu Parishad had organized a Hindu sammelan.
According to VHP, about 70-80 persons have returned to Hindu faith in this district.
A report suggests, among them was Abeda Mir, sister of folk singer Farida Mir. Her decision to adopt Hindu faith was welcomed by offering saffron scarf to her in a public function. Abeda adopted Hindu faith with over half a dozen members of her family.
For last many years both Farida and Abeda are known for their movement against cow slaughter. Though Muslim, Farida is popular Bhajan singer in rural Gujarat.
Meanwhile making clarification on this development, Faid Mir said she beleives in Hindu goddess Khodiar and it is wellknown fact. She said she believes in all religion. She added that it was wrong to say that she was converted to Hindu faith with her family and denied the news story.
