With a view to ensure direct participation of youth in rural development, a scheme will be launched in Haryana on January 12 to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
Stating this here today, state agriculture and panchayat Minister Om Parkash Dhankar said under the scheme, special focus would be laid on the infrastructural and economical development of villages, besides personality and skill development of rural youth.
Dhankar said two or three youth from every village would be connected with this scheme and as a result of this, more than 60,000 youth in the state would have direct participation in the rural development.
In district Jhajjar, this programme would be launched from Hasanpur vilage on January 12, he added.
The minister said ‘Gram Gaurav Boards’ would be installed in rural areas on the pattern of a development board on which information regarding achievement of villages and its renowned personalities would be made available.
The main aim of Gram Gaurav Board is to motivate the young generation and also to check migration to urban areas, he added.
Referring to the availability of urea fertiliser in the state, Dhankar said that every day about three to four lakh bags of urea were arriving in the state. “Just today, the state received seven racks of 21,000 metric tonnes,” he said.
Dhankar said that to meet the demand of farmers in the state, he had recently called on Union Minister for Chemical and Fertilisers Ananth Kumar and requested him to augment the supply of urea to Haryana.
As a result of this, the central government has given approval for additional one lakh metric tonnes of urea for the state, he said.
“Out of this, 50,000 metric tonnes of urea had been immediately made available to Haryana whereas the remaining 50,000 metric tonnes had been kept as reserve,” he said, adding there is no scarcity of urea in the state and urged the farmers not to be mislead by the rumours.
