HM Sanghavi admires Ahmedabad city traffic police for decrease in accidents

Ahmedabad: Traffic police in Ahmedabad city have been working on several aspects including traffic awareness programs to reduce road accidents and prevent human deaths due to these accidents, along with identifying areas that have become accident zones and improving road engineering. As a result, in the last 10 months, 106 road accidents have been reduced and Ahmedabad Traffic Police has succeeded in saving 90 human lives according a note released by th State government.

It further stated that the Minister of State for Home Shri Harsh Sanghvi has appreciated the work done by Ahmedabad Police including research related to this type of traffic. In some districts including Dahod, this type of multi-dimensional analysis has resulted into  commendable work to reduce road accidents, while instructions have been given to imitate it in other districts as well.

By mapping the incidents of fatal road accidents occurring in the city of Ahmedabad, the Ahmedabad city police have made suggestions to make many necessary improvements including zebra crossing, circle design, traffic signals, closing the cuts on the roads, and have implemented them with the help of the administrative system. Through this analytical work, the number of road accidents in the city of Ahmedabad has decreased, along with it, the number of human deaths due to such accidents has also decreased, stated a note.

Sharing further details, the note further stated that in both the traffic zones of Ahmedabad city from 1st January, it has been noticed that both the road accidents and deaths have decreased in the 10 months till 31st October-2023 compared to the road accidents in the same period of 2024. In the year 2023, 1203 road accidents and 419 human deaths occurred in Ahmedabad city. As a result of the work done after this road accident analytics, these road accidents have reduced to 1097 and human deaths have reduced to 329 in the year-2024. That is, compared to last year, 106 road accidents and 90 human lives have been saved.

229 deaths in road accidents in 10 months in 2023 in Ahmedabad east traffic zone have decreased to 155 this year. That is, 74 human lives have been saved. On the other hand, 190 deaths in road accidents occurred in 10 months in the year 2023 in Ahmedabad West Traffic Zone, which has decreased to 174 this year.
