It’s one more good day for BJP in this calendar year.

The party has demonstrated its best ever performance in both Jammu & Kashmir and Jharhkand. The party has not only won Jharkhand election with best ever gain, but has also emerged as top gainer in Jammu & Kashmir where it was never a major political force.

As per figures available at 3.00 pm, BJP has gained 14 seats more in Jammu & Kashmir compared to year 2008 assembly general elections. The party has thus emerged as top gainer in this state. The single largest party PDP has gained 8 more seats compared to 2008 polls. National Conference has lost 12 seats while Congress has lost 6 seats.

In Jharkhand, BJP has gained 17 seats compared to year 2009 general elections, while JMM performance has been same as 2009 polls with lead/victory on 18 seats. Congress has lost 13 seats while JVM+ has lost 5 seats.

It’s true that BJP had expected more seats in Jharkhand and J&K both, and the present result is not ideal one. It’s true that party has not performed as good as in the last Lok Sabha general elections in both states. It’s true that BJP didn’t expect Congress to win 11 seats in J&K and also didn’t expect to get just 40 seats in Jharkhand which is borderline majority mark in 81-strong house. But then party’s jump in terms of number of seats compared to past assembly polls of year 2008 and 2009 is something that is bringing party workers to roads with sweets, crackers, music, dance and colors today.

Party president Amit Shah in a press conference at party headquarters said, ” In 2009 assembly polls, BJP had won 18 seats in Jharkhand. We have now touched 41 mark now and thus we have gained 23 seats. Our vote share was 24% in 2009, which is now 31.3%. This is major growth that we have successfully achieved. In J&K in year 2008 polls, BJP won 11 seats, today we have lead/victory on 25 seats. This is gain of 14 seats. The matter of pleasure is that BJP has emerged as a party with highest vote share in Jammu & Kashmir. BJP has got 23.4% vote share while PDP has got 22% vote share.”
