Census of crocodiles in Vadodara in January 2015

After a gap of four years, forest department of Government of Gujarat will conduct census of crocodiles in river Vishwamitri which passes through the city of Vadodara. Over 60 employees of forest department will explore a 24 km long river-bed during 4-5 January. As per an estimate there are 250 crocodiles present in this stretch. This year, crocodiles have killed five persons in Vadodara city. Census of crocodiles will be held during night time through torch light by detecting their eyes, while in day-time counting will take place using manual method in the afternoon during basking.
