Bharuch, DeshGujarat
According to a notification issued by Collector of Bharuch, the Golden bridge connecting Bharuch and Ankleshwar has been declared reserved for one-way traffic from south to north direction during 19-26 February period. As per this notification, four-wheelers traveling from north to south(Vadodara to Surat) will not be allowed on Golden bridge. They will need to pass through Sardar bridge only. The vehicles traveling from south to north direction(Surat to Vadodara) will be allowed to use Golden bridge. This decision will be effective on experiment basis during 19-26 February with an intention to ease the traffic on this national highway stretch which connects Mumbai to Delhi, and suffers huge traffic problem. It should be noted that while Sardar bridge at Bharuch has turned dangerous beyond repair to carry the load of traffic it carries anyway, the other bridge, over 100 years old Golden bridge is too narrow and is able to contain only two vehicles side-by-side. A new bridge is already under construction to bring permanent solution to this problem. L&T is going to complete the task of new river bridge by August 2016.
