Crack down on permitted hotels at Sasan Gir for violation of permit

First there was a problem of insufficient tourist inflow. Later after Amitabh Bachchan led ad campaign ensured sufficient and even overflowing tourist arrival, but there was no infrastructure. Then came infrastructure with number of farm houses, hotels and resorts – some of them illegal.

Last week, after High Court’s order, district administration sealed around two dozen illegal farm houses and hotels around Gir.

Now this week, the district administration cracked down on legally functioning facilities for violation of permission.

Yesterday, Prant officer of Mendarda asked a hotel run by Lords group(picture above) to shut down 50 rooms of their hotel as the hotel was permitted construction of only 6 rooms while it had constructed 56 rooms.

Similarly license of Sukhsagar resort was suspended for construction which is not according to original approved plan.

There are 29 resorts/restaurants that are permitted by district authority after no-objection-certificate issued by Forest department. District administration is now cracking down on these facilities for violation of permission/approval.
