About 300 km long international border in Rann of Kutch has number of border outposts. Average distance between two border posts is 1.5 km. Barring a few border posts like Vighokot, Sardar post, Shaktibet etc, all other border outposts are identified by number of nearest pillar number on India-Pakistan international border.
However, as per the new decision by union Home Ministry, all such border outposts are now being given names of martyr jawans. Ashok, Madan, Balbir, Mala, Lachchu are some of the new names of border outposts.
Jawans have welcomed such decision, as the names and the stories of martyrs inspire them.
