Presented above is a video clip from current affairs discussion programme on Geo TV in Pakistan. A gentleman in discussion narrates how a plan against heat wave implemented in the city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat in India under then Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi has been successful. He was saying this in connection with recent deaths due to heat wave in Pakistan.
But the story doesn’t end here.
Imran Khan led Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf(PTI) leader Imran Ismail has moved an application in Karachi court seeking registration of a case pertaining to the deaths of around 2,000 people from heatstroke against the provincial government.
According to a report in Pakistani newspaper Dawn:
In his application, the PTI leader suggested the heat-health project developed by the Indian state of Gujarat for Ahmedabad, which faced identical temperatures, could be a possible model in diminishing people’s sufferings.
The Ahmedabad Heat Health Plan had been recognized globally for its success and was named as one of the top 20 projects at the Sendai Conference of Disaster Risk Reduction in early 2015, he added.
So Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) actions against heat wave under ‘heat wave plan’ is very much in discussion across the border in Pakistan.
