Flood water caused damage to light poles, trees at riverfront

After flood water receded, cleaning work at Sabarmati riverfront lower promenade was kicked off by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC). It was found that 120 small trees were broken while 400 trees were bent. 8 streetlight poles were uprooted while 100 were bent. Lower promenade(popularly known as walkway) has been closed for public for another two days. 18 pockets on the bank of river Sabarmati and 31 villages in down stream area were impacted by 2 lakh cu sec water release from Dharoi dam following heavy rain in upstream areas of Rajasthan. Water level of river Sabarmati in Ahmedabad had reached 135 ft mark. 10 JCB machines were put on task for cleaning along with 200 labourers. Huge quantity of green waste had come along with flood water to riverfront. With release of water, level at Subhash bridge was up at 46 meter. It later came down to 41 meter level.
