IIMA and Gujarat are on my CV: President of Mozambique

Gujarat is on my CV(Curriculum vitae), said Mozambique president Filipe Jacinto Nyusi during a press interaction at Indian Institute of Management(IIM), Ahmedabad today afternoon. The President of Mozambique is former student of IIM. He had done four months duration Management Development Programme(MDP) course at IIMA in year 2003.

When asked what would he like to give back to the place where he had his managerial education, Mozambique President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi in his reply said he should actually charge the campus actually, because his CV as president mentions the name of this campus, this city and this state wherever he goes.

“I have done my part already by putting Gujarat and this institute on the world map. I am the only student of IIMA who has become president,” the president replied the question in lighter tone.

The president during his visit to IIMA campus met his 18 of 36 batch mates who were present here. He also addressed ‘Make Africa Your Partner’ conference organized by Indo-African Chamber of Commerce and Industry and spoke about investment opportunities in Mozambique. He took a round of the campus and interacted with faculty.

During his address to press, he said level of education in India is quite good.

He said, “yesterday in our discussion with the govt, we focused on agriculture and agricultural business because we feel that this is the area where we can unlock a lot of potential and state of Gujarat is quite powerful and strong in that regard and we believe that focusing on this area would offer great opportunity for business people of this state.”

He said, “we visited textile plant here in Gujarat and tomorrow we will visit some of the agricultural facilities and units and petroleum university. ”

The president spoke in Portuguese throughout his interaction.
