Central government is preparing an “action plan” for transferring the fertiliser subsidy directly to farmers, Minister of State Hansraj Ahir said here today.
“Union government is preparing an action plan to transfer subsidies on fertilisers directly to farmers instead of producers of fertilisers,” said Ahir, the MoS for Fertilisers and Chemicals.
Ahir took stock of the supply and availability of fertilisers in Krishna district along with the officials of revenue and agriculture departments.
He directed officials to create awareness among farmers on using bio-fertisers instead of chemical fertilisers.
The minister also asked the officials to undertake more soil-testing programmes for farmers.
