Slamming the Congress for disrupting Parliament to cover up its corruption, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday said it has nothing to do with the National Herald case.

“Why is Congress talking about the complainant, and not about the corruption? Everything is before the court, neither Delhi Police, nor CBI, nor the government is involved …,” Union minister for communications and information Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

“The plea of vendetta is being used for political coverage … Are they settling court scores in Parliament? Congress is not saying what are the allegations,” he said.

Responding to Sonia Gandhi’s comment that she is not scared of anyone as she is Indira Gandhi’s daughter-in-law, Prasad said: “Law is not concerned with who is whose daughter-in-law, or who is whose son-in-law”.

“India of 2015 is not India of 1967. Sonia Gandhi is not Indira Gandhi…” he said.

The minister said the case was filed in 2013, before the BJP came to power.

“Congress is only trying to cover up corruption charges. Let Congress party explain: Was 2G case a vendetta, or was Commonwealth Games case, Coal scam case a vendetta?” he asked.

“We want Congress to respond why they are not letting Parliament function? The deep sense of discomfort they are feeling, it is grossly unfair to mock Parliament,” he said, adding the government is appealing to the Congress to allow Parliament to function.

The Delhi high court on Monday directed Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to appear before a lower court, which had issued a summons, in a case of acquisition of the National Herald.
