Ahmedabad Metro phase-1 to complete in 2018, bullet train project to complete in 7 years after works kick off

Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-1 consisting of North-South Corridor from APMC to Motera Stadium and East-West Corridor from Thaltej Gam to Vastral Gam is being implemented by Metro Link Express for Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad (MEGA) Company Limited and is scheduled to be completed by March, 2018.
This was stated by Minister of State in the Ministry of Urban Development Shri Babul Supriyo in parliament.
In replies to another questions in parliament, Minister of State for Railways Shri Manoj Sinha stated that the Ahmedabad – Mumbai bullet train project has been sanctioned in December 2015 and estimated completion period of project is approximately 7 years from commencement of work.
The minister said It has been decided in December 2015 to take up implementation of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed rail project with Japanese financial assistance to the tune of approximately 81% of the total project cost on concessional terms.Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed rail project with almost 12% Economic Rate of Return is considered useful for enhancing transport capacity and safety, reducing the travel time and pollution, besides leading to growth of manufacturing in India. The total cost of Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed rail project is estimated to be approximately Rs 97,636 crore. Government of Japan has agreed to provide loan of approximately 81% of total project cost at 0.1% per annum interest for 50 years with 15 years moratorium with the balance being funded through equity from Ministry of Railways and concerned State Governments.
