Department of Cultural activities, Government of Gujarat has through a circular imposed entry fee for visitors at Dandi Kutir, a salt-mount shaped museum featuring life and works of Mahatma Gandhi, conceived and inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar
– General visitor above 4-year age who is Indian citizen will need to pay Rs 10
– Foreign citizen will need to pay Rs 200
– Group tours organized by school/college will have free entry
– Group tours organized by institutions/organizations will have free entry
– Handicapped people will have free entry.
Local Gandhinagar Vasahat Mandal has however opposed the imposition of ticket fee. They believe that like all other Gandhi museums including the museum at Sabarmati Ashram and at Delhi don’t have entry fee, then why at Dandi Kutir? Vasahat Mandal points out that earlier when the museum was under construction firm Shaporji Palonji, the entry was free, but now as it has come under the State government, the entry fee has been imposed which is unfair.
