Allegation of GSPC scam in Modi regime false and baseless: Gujarat govt

Amid the demands of a judicial probe and announcement of statewide protest on April 30 by Congress, Gujarat government today categorically said that the allegations of Rs 20000 crore scam in Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Limited (GSPC) during the regime of then Chief Minister (Now Prime Minister) Narendra Modi leveled by main opposition party was false and baseless.

Spokesperson of the state government and in-charge minister of Petrochemical department Saurabh Patel told newsmen in Gandhinagart that the said allegation of scam were baseless. ‘All the decisions regarding the matter the Congress is referring to, were taken after the clearances from the then UPA government at center led by Congress. The then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had given consent to it. Now Congress is calling it a scam which was completely a false allegation,’ he said.

Earlier Congress state president Bharatsinh Solanki told newsmen in Ahmedabad that the party will organize a statewide dharna on Arpil 30 on the issue of K G basin related GSPC scam. ‘We will also request the president to get it probed by a judge of the apex court,’ he said after a meeting of the party in Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan, the state headquarter of the party which was also attended by AICC general secretary Gurudas Kamat and leader of opposition in Gujarat assembly Shankersinh Vaghela.
