Gujarat CM orders CID Crime probe into Una incident, chargesheet in 60 days, designated court

Gandhinagar:Gujarat government today said the Chief Minister has decided to hand over the probe of Una Dalit atrocity case to CID Crime. The case will be heard by designated court. Special prosecutor will be appointed in this case. Charge sheet will be filed in 60 days. The state government will bear the cost of treatment of all those affected.

State Social Justice minister Ramanlal Vora in a statement said that all 8 accused in this incident were arrested immediately and cases were filed against them under section 307, 395, 323, 324 and atrocity act. All accused are in jail. Four police men including police inspector, two ASIs and one head constable are suspended for negligence in performing duty. Each of those affected has been paid Rs 1 lakh assistance.

The probe has been handed over to CID Crime. Charge sheet will be produced in 60 days and case will be conducted in designated court. A special prosecutor will be appointed in this case. The state government will bear entire cost of treatment of those affected.

Vora siad the state government has always taken strict actions when atrocity has been committed over Dalits. In this case while orders have been issued directly from Chief Minister level, Dalit community and others should maintain peace and restraint. DeshGujarat

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today announced setting up a special designated court in consultation with the High Court for the trial of accused in the Dalit atrocity case that took place at Una in Gir-Somnath district on July 11, 2016.

Looking to the sensitive nature of the event, she personally met the elected representatives, prominent citizens and other leaders from the Gir-Somnath and Una areas to seize the gravity of the situation. An FIR has been filed at the Una Police Station against Vashrambhai Balubhai Sarvaiya’s six men under the Atrocity Eight persons have been detained. Meanwhile, the Government has suspended one PI, two ASI and one Head Constable for inaction. The case is now being investigated by Deputy Police Superintendent of SC/ST Cell.

The Chief Minister directed the authorities concerned to take sternest action against the accused as per the rule. She decided to handover the case to CID Crime Branch to ensure impartial prosecution.

She said the district administration has paid Rs. one lakh to each victim as per the provisions. The District Collector has visited the victims under treatment at the hospitals at Una, Rajkot and Junagadh, as also Gujarat’s Minister Jashabhai Barad and Parliamentary Secretary Jethabhai Solanki.

Gujarat BJP spokesperson Shri Bharat Pandya today said Gujarat government has taken quick actions and arrested the accused after Dalit atrocity incident of Samadhiyala village in Gir Somnath district. He alleged that Congress was doing politics of division and trying to provoke sentiments. Pandya appealed that political parties should not make this incident an issue of divide. He said this is not an issue of ‘vivad’ but an issue of ‘samvedana’. Such an incident is ‘Kalank’ for entire society. Noone has power to take law in own hand.

He said BJP was first to condemn the action, and elected MLAs, ministers,, MPs, Chairmen and organization office bearers had visited affectd families.

BJP has stood by the victims and Government has immediately extended financial aid to them, he added.

He said, Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel had ordered formation of special designated court to hear this case, appointment of special prosecutor and submission of charge-sheet in 60 days for speedy justice.

“As soon as Social Justice minister Ramanlal Vora came to know about this incident of atrocity, he issued directives for speedy action, arrests of accused, medical treatment to injured Dalit youths and police protection to them,” Pandya said adding that Gujarat govt minister Shri Jashabhai Barad, Parliamentary Secretary Shri Jethabhai Solanki, district president Zaverbhai Thakrar, district collector had reached Una based medical care facility and issued directives for speedy treatment. They had also held meeting with families of victims.

BJP MP Shri Shambhunathji Tundiya, MP Kirit Solanki, Gujarat BJP SC Morcha president Shri Ambalal Rohit, former MLA Shri Madhabhai Boricha, district-taluka president etc had also rushed to medical facility to meet the victims and their families. Political Secretary Shri Jethabhai Solanki had given Rs 1 lakh cheque to each victim against Rs 4 lakh relief that they are going to get.

Considering the seriousness of this issue, Gujarat govt and BJP leaders had taken speedy actions and four cops including local police inspector are suspended for failure on their part. Therefore the politics of votes, Congress and other political parties are displaying is improper.
