Politics over Una atrocity case: Rahul, Kejriwal to visit Samadhiyala village

Junagadh: Small village Samadhiyala near Una town in southern Saurashtra in which Chamar community(Dalits) youths were in a shameful incident brutally beaten up by Shiv Sena workers over cow skinning issue is all set to become a place for political tourism this week.

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi is going to visit this village on appeal of Congress party’s state unit. Rahul is likely to visit the village on 21 July. Aam Admi Party(AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal who is desperately trying to gain some political ground in Gujarat is going to visit Samadhiyala village on 22nd July.

There are three elements to this story. One is that victim Chamar community youths belong to Dalit section which has high stakes in national politics. Second element is that Gujarat is BJP ruled state and it is going to witness general elections of assembly next year. Third element is that Gujarat is home-state of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

It should be mentioned here that Rahul is not in power either in centre or in state, ditto about Kejriwal. All those who can actually make impact to victims have already visited them. They include local officials, ruling party BJP MPs, state parliamentary secretary and ministers. Add to this, State Chief Minister Anandiben Patel is going to visit the victims on Wednesday along with Social Justice minister Ramanlal Vora and Chief Secretary G.R.Aloria.
