Designated CM Vijay Rupani tenders resignation from state BJP president post

Gandhinagar: Vijay Rupani who was holding two positions, the position of cabinet minister in Anandiben Patel government and the position of state party president of Gujarat since February this year contrary to party’s principal that one person should hold one post at a time, today finally resigned from the post of state party president today after his surprise elevation as state Chief Minister yesterday.

First time MLA and junior most cabinet minister in Anandiben Patel government, Rupani whose political career in party organization is decades old is going to take oath as state Chief Minister tomorrow.

Rupani told media persons here that he has send his resignation to the national BJP president Mr Amit Shah.

‘I have sent my resignation to Amitbhai. I am thankful to the party for the responsibility given to me which I tried to delivered with all my strength. I am also thankful to the party cadres for their co-operation,’ he said.

To a query he said that the names of ministers to be sworn-in with him and the names of invitees for the event and other related subjects were being discussed and finalized.

It is yet not clear, who would be the next BJP president in Gujarat.
