SAUNI: Nitin Patel recalls Narendrabhai’s contribution to progress of Narmada project stalled under Congress-led UPA in Centre

Rajkot: Following are highlights of Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel at SAUNI Yojana inauguration function in Jamnagar district.

6 crore Gujaratis are fortunate that our Narendrabhai Modi is here to dedicate SAUNI Yojana as Prime Minister. When we planned inauguration, there was scarcity of water here and there was no rain. But Narendrabhai has been lucky for us. During his 12-year rule in Gujarat, there was not a single year when we hadn’t rain. Now when he is here, we had rain in Dhrol yesterday.

There was a time of migration, decreasing population in Saurashtra. SAUNI will bring benefits to households, agriculture, milk production and more.

Then Congress led government in centre was not giving permission to raise height of Narmada dam. It is not about SAUNI or Sujalam Sufalam schemes, but it is about Narmada dam which in root of these schemes, and then Congress governments in centre were not granting permission to raise height of Narmada dam. It was then Chief Minister Narendrabhai who sat on fast against then central government for Narmada Yojana.

Later after 121.92 meter height was achieved, we had to get approval of installation of gates over Narmada dam. Then Congress-led UPA government did injustice to Gujarat and suppressed the file for seven years.

We are fortunate, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are fortunate the Narendrabhai became PM and cleared the file in 17 days which was stalled by Congress-led government in center for 7 years. We will have three-time more water due to Narendrabhai’s this decision.

There was a camera person who was shooting the release of water at dam site today in presence of Narendrabhai. The camera person was unaware about the flow of water coming towards him. None of us could spot him, but Prime Minister Modi paid attention to him and cautioned him by that he should go away as huge flow of water was coming towards him. The cameraman dropped his camera and rushed away and could save his life.
