Vadodara: This city of Gujarat, the third largest after Ahmedabad and Surat is popularly called ‘Sanskar nagari’. In no other city of Gujarat, you would find traditional garba happening like Vadodara during Navratri, and be it Ganesh Utsav or Diwali, the celebration is at its best in this city which is cultural capital of Gujarat. During Diwali, number of rangolis are spotted across the city even at public places, many of them are very professionally made and such quality can’t be found in any other part of Gujarat. Some credits for this should go to the school of fine arts at MS University. rangoli competitions are held not just at city level but also at company level in private firms and also at locality level in housing societies. Busy central bus station of GSRTC also is decorated with rangoli. Exhibitions of Rangoli take place every year ahead of Diwali which is also unique to this city compared to other parts of Gujarat. Some rangoli enthusiasts also hold workshop for rangoli which help to keep this art alive. Presented here are few pictures depicting the same.
