943 km long Saurashtra cycling expedition of Army flagged off

Jamnagar: A 20 members Indian Army Cycling team embarked on a 943 Kms long Cycling Expedition to promote and foster the spirit of adventure and camaraderie from Jamnagar today which will cross through six districts of Saurashtra region of Gujarat and adjoining union territory of Diu.

The expedition led by Lieutenant Sandeep Kumar Oli was flagged off at Jamnagar Military station today and would be flagged in (return) here on March 1. Station. The Cycling expedition will cover six districts of Saurashtra i e Jamnagar, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Gir-Somnath, Devbhoomi-Dwarka and Porbander and the union territory of Diu.

Speaking to the participants of Cycling Expeditions, Brigadier Arjun Segan, Sena Medal, Commander Headquarters 31 Infantry Brigade, wished them good luck for success of this cycling expedition.

The cycling expedition will make an endeavor to interact with villagers and school children and spread the spirit of adventure and showcase camaraderie amongst the troops. The expedition will have 14 night halts and will cover a distance of 80 to 110 Kms on a daily basis. Interestingly, a Cycling Team from will also participate for 50kms alongwith the Indian Army Cycling team from Rajkot towards Babra.
