Mob burn down Muslim man’s shop in Anjar for alleged kidnapping of two girls of Ahir community

Bhuj: Angry mob of a particular community on Friday burnt down the shop of a Muslim man who had allegedly fled with two Hindu girls of Anjar town in Kutch district.

The situation has become tense even as Hindu organization has called for a Bandh in Anjar today.

People burnt down the shop of the Muslim man who had fled with two girls with an intention of alleged love-jihad.

The Ahir community has alleged that the girls have been kidnapped by the culprit.

Schools are closed in Anjar today. Large number of people came to road to protest. They were seen pelting stones.

Huge number of police force has been deployed in Anjar to control the crowds.

SM Varotaria, police inspector said this is not incident of Love Jihad. There’s rumor that this is Love Jihad case. Those spreading rumours on social media will face action as per IT act.

A shop of Muslim was burnt in Ganga bajar area. The shop belongs to a person who is suspected to have fled with two missing Hindu girls. Suspect is identified as Hafiz Aziz Khoja. He owns bag shop in Ganga bajar. The incident to torch the shop happened after Ahir community’s meeting at Ahir boarding on Friday. The Ahirs stayed away from targeting entire Muslim community and expressed their anger only against the person they believe is involved in missing girls case.

In another incident, not related to this, mob in Anjar torched a truck believed trafficking cattle for illegal slaughter. This incident took place near Varsamedi railway crossing. Police lobed three tear gas shells to control the mob.

According to Superintendent of Police(SP) Kutch (East)police, two girls(age 26 and 23, both are sisters) went for exam on last 28th and didn’t return home. Their family had filed missing complaint.

Meanwhile extra police force has been called from Bhuj for deployment in Anjar.
