PM to address 6,000 women Sarpanchs from across the country in Gujarat on 8 March

Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will grace the concluding function of ‘Swachch Shakti Saptah – 2017’ on 8 March at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.
According to Mr. Akshay Raut, Officer on Special Duty(OSD) in Drinking Water and Swachchata ministry, Government of India, more than 170 districts across the country are declared open defecation free(ODF). 1-8 March week is being marked as Swachch Shakti Saptah – 2017 across the nation. Concluding function of this week will be held in presence of Prime Minister Shri Modi on 8th March in which more than 6,000 women Sarpanchs from across the country will participate.
The morning session of the function will showcase various flagship schemes of government including Beti Bachao Abhiyan, Swachchata Mission, Digital India etc.
Besides the main event, an exhibition will be set up at Mahatma Mandir highlighting the schemes introduced by the central and the state governments in relation to Swachchata Mission.
According to Gujarat government, 21 districts of Gujarat are declared ODF. The event on 8 March will start at 12.30 pm. 6,000 women Sarpanchs who are going to participate the function will be taken on development projects tour covering 8 districts of Gujarat including Ahmedabad, Kehda, Gandhinagar, Sabarkantha, Vadodara, Mahesana, Kutch and Surat. A grand cultural event in this connection has been held at Sabarmati Riverfront on March 7.
