PM to attend Shri Somnath Trust meeting at Somnath; Trustees including Shah, Advani, Keshubhai to remain present

Somnath: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will be visiting Somnath temple for the first time after assuming his office in Delhi, on March 8 during his two day Gujarat visit starting tomorrow, would participate in the board meeting of the temple trust in which former Deputy Chief Minister L K Advani and BJP president Amit Shah will also remain present, In-charge General Manager of the trust Vijay Chavda today said.
‘All the 7 members of the8 member trust (one position vacant) including PM Modi, Amitbhai and Advaniji as trustees and former Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel as its chairperson, will participate in the meeting,’ Mr Chavda said.
He would arrive here on a chopper in the morning of March 8 (his last visit of Somnath was in February 2014 as the then Chief Minister) and offer prayer. Later he will participate in the trustee board meeting during which some important decision might be taken.
Meanwhile security in and around the temple situated on the coast of Indian Ocean, has been beefed up in the wake of the PM’s visit. The temple, first among the 12 jyotirlingas of lord Shiva, is visited by lakhs of devotees every year.
