2 Congress MLAs meet Praful Patel in Gandhinagar, amid speculations NCP terms it a ‘chance’ meet

Gandhinagar: A meeting between two MLA’s of Congress party in Gujarat assembly with senior NCP leader and former union minister Praful Patel in the backdrop of the coming assembly polls due to be held by December this year, gave rise to various speculations, however, the party called it more of a ‘chance’ meeting.

NCP spokesperson Manhar Patel said that Mr Patel was here to address a press conference in connection with the inauguration of the new state headquarter office of the party situated close to the SG highway in Ahmedabad and other party issues. ‘At the same time the Congress MLA from Viramgam Tejshriben Patel also arrived there as she was willing to talk to the media about the incident involving her and the speaker in the assembly today. The media had rushed to the circuit house where Mr Patel was to address the PC. As the both leaders were there, they met and greet each other as a goodwill gesture,’ he said.

Talking about the meeting between Mr Patel and Congress MLA from Bayad seat of Aravalli district where s NCP led coup in the local municipality has thrown ruling BJP out of power putting a rebel of the party in the chairman’s seat, Mahendra Vaghela, the party spokesperson said that the two leaders also had a courtsey visit during which the NCP leader was greeted by Mr Vaghela for ousting BJP from power in the municipality.

He claimed that there was no big political meaning of this meet.

The spokesperson said that NCP president Sharad Pawar would inaugurate the new state party headquarter on Sunday.
