Gujarat Assembly passes bill for setting up four private universities

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Assembly today passed the bill for Swarnim Startup and Innovation University, PP Savani University, Indrashil University and Karnavati University. With passing of this bill, Gujarat will have four new private university, said Education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama who moved ‘Gujarat Private University Amendment bill’.

Swanim Startup and Innovation University will come up at Bhoyan Radhoa in taluka/district Gandhinagar while PP Savani University will come up at Dhamdod in Mangrol taluka of Surat district in South Gujarat. Indrashil University will come up at Dholera in Ahmedabad district while Karnavati University will be set up at Uvarsad in Gandhinagar district.

Chudasama shard further details of upcoming universities and said, Swarnim Startup and Innovation University has submitted 2017-2021 five-year period’s phase wise plans. It will jointly offer 3600 seats of diploma, degree, post graduate and certificate courses. 40,000 square ft infrastructure will be ready during 2017-19 period. The trusts will invest Rs 600 lakh for equipment, Rs 100 lakh for furniture/fixture and Rs 100 lakh for computer software, networking/internet facilities.

The university will offer graduate course in innovation and entrepreneurship, IT/computer technology, robotics, electronics, pharma, biotech, automobile, e-banking, fashion and graphic design etc.

PP Savani University will mainly serve tribal area. The trust has invested Rs 50.61 crore for this initiative for setting up the university. The trust intends to invest further Rs 16 crore for second and third phases.

Indrashil University intends to further spread the health services. Shri Saraswati Education Sansthan Group of Institution Rajkot and Cadila Pharma at Kadi will extend financial support to set up this university. About 115 land available at near Ratanpur village in Dhandhuka taluka will have this university which will provide education to 12,720 students in next ten years.
