12 km saree highlighting Central govt schemes to welcome PM Modi in Surat

Surat: Gaurav Path road in Surat has been converted into Swagat Path ahead of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s scheduled 16/17 April visit to the city. Innovative lighting, thematic sand sculptures by Odisha based Padma award winner artist Sudershan Patnaik, Rangoli art display, laser show at VR mall by a team from Singapore are some of the highlights of preparations going on to welcome Prime Minister Modi on 8 km road stretch between local airport and circuit house where PM will take night halt.

City based organization Disha Foundation has in cooperation with local Textile industry printed a 12 km long saree to welcome the Prime Minister. Limca book of records team has arrived in Surat to take a note of this saree. This saree is being tied through the entire stretch on which Prime Minister is going to travel within the Surat city covering Gaurav Path, Parle Point, Athwa Lines and upto Circuit house where PM will take night halt. The saree highlights Central government schemes and movements such as Swachch Bharat Mission, Digital India, Make In India, Corruption Free India etc according to Disha Foundation’s Vinod Gajera and Gopal Goswami. Considering that one saree is average five meter in width, the total cloth used is worth 2400 sarees.
