4 FIRs filed in Gujarat for anti-national posts: MoS Home

Ahmedabad: In the wake of rising tensions between India and Pakistan and a flurry of disinformation online, the Gujarat Police has intensified efforts to curb the spread of fake news and anti national posts. Four FIRs have been filed against individuals for spreading anti-national sentiments intended to demoralize the armed forces.

Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sanghvi, addressing the media at the State Emergency Operation Centre, said, “Yesterday, in different districts of Gujarat, some individuals used social media to spread anti-national sentiments, particularly targeting the morale of our forces. FIRs have been registered against four such people. Any such misconduct will not be tolerated in Gujarat. The police have been directed to remain on alert and take strict action against such posts.”

Issuing another warning on X (formerly Twitter), Sanghvi wrote, “A stern reminder to all: spreading negativity and disrespect on social media won’t be tolerated. Maintain and respect the rules!”

The Home Department has also stepped up surveillance of digital platforms to swiftly detect and counter any attempts to spread misinformation.
