Reliance Jio is now officially the 4th largest telecom company in India, grabs 10% share

Ahmedabad: As per Telecom Regulatory Authority of India(TRAI) subscription report released today, Reliance Jio is now the fourth largest telecom company in India with 10% share.

As per the report, the number of subscribers of Jio in Gujarat is added by over 4 lakh and crossed the mark of 80 lakh in March 2017.

In the month of March 2017, Gujarat witnessed total net addition of 7.20 lakh subscribers including 4.30 lakh of Jio which shows that maximum numbers new subscribers were added by Jio.

Key Highlights

Reliance Jio subscriber base at 10.86 crore; market share 9.29% at the end of March 31, 2017.

TRAI’s data showed that Jio’s total subscribers were 10.2 crore in February and added 58 lakh new subscribers in one month with its Prime membership and other promotional offers.

The company’s market share was 8.83% in February.

The Prime membership that would give its customers discounts on apps usage and data benefits for another year included a one-time payment of Rs 99.

Jio said that as on March 31 the company has garnered 7.2 crore Prime subscribers out of the total.

Broadband wireless subscribers of the company amounted to its total subscribers.

“Total wireless subscribers (GSM, CDMA & LTE) increased from 1,164.20 million at the end of Feb-17 to 1,170.18 million at the end of Mar-17, thereby registering a monthly growth rate of 0.51%,” TRAI said in the report.
