Ahmedabad: J D Majethia and his Hats Off Productions which has given popular TV shows such as Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Khichdi, Ba Bahu Aur Baby among others today announced upcoming dramedy TV serial Bakula Bua Ka Bhoot which has veteran Gujarati theater and TV artists Sarita Joshi and Apara Mehta in lead roles.

Bakula Bua Ka Bhoot will be a week-end entertainer show on &TV. It will be on the air from June 24.

‘Bakula Bua Ka Bhoot will be a wholesome family entertainer for which Hats Off Productions is known,’ said JD adding that the backdrop of the serial is a Gujarati joint family in Ranavav village of Porbandar district in Gujarat.

The serial is written by Aatish Kapadia who with JD gave us some of very popular shows such as Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Khichdi and Baa Bahoo Aur Baby.

Speaking to media persons in Ahmedabad, actress Apara Mehta said dromedy show concept is for the first time being tried in India. In dromedy, the situation and characters create comedy.

Mehta further said that she agreed to work for this serial immediately as soon as she learnt Sarita Joshi was part of it.

Actress Sarita Joshi said Ahmedabad has also given great response to her work be it Santu Rangili or any other play/show. Giving the example of creativity involved in Bakula Bua Ka Bhoot, she said in one of the scenes depicting ‘swarg’ you would have a view of functioning of swarg, various departments out there, AC office, a machine to kill, battery charging issue faced in swarg and lot more.

Sharing more details on creative part, JD said there’s character called Dhabu bahu in the serial who can speak to objects. She feels so lonely that she speaks to objects and the objects speak to her too. There’s in fact philosophy involved in it. JD said Bakula bua is such a character that even Lord Krishna asks in those in swarg to allow her to return.

JD assured that sparks of Aatish’s pen will be very much there visible in the serial.
