Rajkot: A huge gathering of people which included members of erstwhile royal families and commoners alike thronged the roads of Rajkot city this evening during the around 8 km long road-show of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The unprecedented crowd in which women, children, youths were also in considerable numbers was seen standing alongside the route of the road-show, which was in all third such event of PM Modi in Gujarat this year. In what may be termed as a very encouraging thing for the ruling BJP in this election year in the state, was that the road-show was attended by lakhs of people despite it being a rainy day in the monsoon season. The party had already said that the road -show would not be cancelled even if it rained.
PM Modi started the road-show as scheduled from his rally venue near Aaji Dam after the public meeting which was also attended by over a lakh people.
Modi standing in his vehicle continuously waved his hands accepting the greetings of the people who looked eager to have a glimpse of him. People cheered PM Modi with slogans like Modi-Modi and Bharat Mata Ki Jai.
The car-cade of the road show crossed through Amul circle, Chunaravad Chowk, Deluxe Cinema, Keshare Hind bridge, Hospital Chowk, Bahumali Chowk, Zila Panchayat Chowk, Kishanpara and Mayor Bungalow to reach Airport from where he flew back to Ahmedabad for a night stay at Rajbhavan in Gandhinagar. He would participate in an event in Modasa of Arvalli district, inaugurate a textile conference in Gandhinagar and inaugurate the Khel Mahkumbh in Ahmedabad tomorrow before returning to New Delhi in the evening.
