Major jolt to Congress in Central Gujarat: Thasra MLA Ramsinh Parmar resigns

Gandhinagar: In a major jolt to opposition Congress party in Gujarat, Thasra MLA Ramsinh Parmar has resigned from the post of Member of Legislative Assembly(MLA) today. Parmar handed over his resignation to Speaker Ramanlal Vora.

Parmar in reply to questioned asked by media persons soon after giving resignation said, “Voters in my constituency who elect me for last 22 years complained that their works were not done. They believed this was because of adverse party government in power in the State. I don’t find any future of Congress due to factionalism there. I am giving my resignation following my inner voice. I have been a minister, I have no aspiration to become minister. Today I have just submitted my resignation. I will decide future actions later.”

Parmar is Chairman of Amul Dairy. He influences several assembly seats in Central Gujarat. This is major jolt to Congress party therefore. After all Congress is a force in Gujarat due to its some locally popular and powerful MLAs.

In last less than 24 hours, Parmar is sixth MLA to submit his resignation. This is happening when Rajya Sabha elections is scheduled to take place on August 8 and Congress candidate Ahmed Patel is in need of desired votes of MLAs.

Siddhpur MLA Balwantsinh Rajput who was Chief Whip of Congress party in Gujarat Assembly, Vijapur MLA Prahlad Patel, Viramgam MLA Tejshriben, Vansda MLA Chhanabhai Chaudhary, Balashinor MLA Mansinh Chauhan earlier resigned as MLA.
