Amul elections in Kheda district: Ramsinh Parmar continues his hold

Anand

Thasra MLA Ramsinh Parmar has retained his hold over Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union – popularly known as Amul Dairy with victory of 10/13 candidates in election, polling for which took place a day before yesterday. Parmar is Congress MLA and Chairman of Amul.

Kheda district is considered the last bastion of Congress among Gujarat’s dairy cooperative unions. Congress has retained it.

Only two BJP inspired candidates could see victory, while one independent has been successful.

The election was a small one with less than 1,000 voters, but it was in discussion because Amul involves Rs 4,000 crore management. There were total 27 candidates in fray. Polling took place across 11 polling stations.

Amul Chairman and Congress MLA Ramsinh Parmar enjoys support of most of the 900 odd members as he is in this field for long time. BJP’s efforts were not enough. Ramsinh Parmar had moved all Congress MLAs of this region to ensure victory. Parmar had organized a tour of voters so that BJP side can not contact them. The voters were brought back from the tour just before polling started.

Victorious Congress backed candidates:

Thasra: Ramsinh Parmar(MLA)
Anand: Nitaben Bharatsinh Solanki
Khambhat: Chandubhai Parmar
Borsad: Rajendrasinh Parmar(MLA)
Kathlal: Savitaben Vaghela
Kapadvanj: Shardaben Patel
Mahemdavad: Juvansinh Chauhan
Nadiad: Madhuben Parmar
Virpur: Radhusinh Parmar
Individual: Ranjitbhai Patel
