Congress releases second list of candidates for Gujarat assembly elections 2017
November 20, 2017
Gandhinagar: Opposition Congress party late in the evening today released the second list of candidate which is attached to this article here:
Under the pressure of Hardik Patel – led Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti(PAAS), the Congress party has changed four candidates that were declared in first list.
Congress has replaced PAAS convener Amit Thummar in Junagadh with Bhikhabhai Joshi, Jayesh Patel with Kiran Thakor in Bharuch, Ashok Jirawala in place of Nilesh Kumbhani in Kamrej(Surat) and Dhirubhai Gajera in place of Prafhulbhai Togadiya in Varachha Road seat.
It is believed that Dhirubhai Gajera is one of main finance of PAAS stir. PAAS was therefore red-faced with Congress for giving ticket to Prafhul Togadia instead of Dhirubhai Gajera. Today Congress has stepped back under PAAS pressure and given Gajera ticket to contest from Varachha seat. Ambitious Gajera was trying his luck to find place in Gujarat Assembly for several years. He has today got chance to contest from a seat which thanks to Patidar agitation is believed strong seat for Congress this time.
Congress has in today’s list given ticket of Jamnagar South to Ashok Lal, elder brother of Jitu Lal who had demanded ticket from BJP. Ashok Lal joined Congress today itself leaving BJP. Former MP Vikram Madam who lost in last Lok Sabha election has been fielded by Congress on Khambhalia seat. On Bhuj seat in district Kutch, Congress has chosen to field Muslim candidate Adam Chaki.
