Modi hits out at Rahul for ‘Grand Stupid Thought’, also quips at Congress president election

Morbi/Navsari:

PM Narendra Modi took a dig at Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi for terming the GST as “Gabbar Singh Tax” and also hit out at him by targeting the Presidential election of the main opposition party.

Addressing a rally at Navsari he said that there were three elections going on in the country and the outcomes were also 100% known beforehand. In the UP local body polls and Gujarat assembly polls BJP was bound to win.

‘And in the third election which was that of the Congress president the result was also known. No one else apart from the members of one family (Nehru-Gandhi family) can become the president,’ he quipped.

Earlier in Morbi he said that the “new economist” is expressing “Grand Stupid Thought” these days about GST.

“I’m surprised that many economists and intellectuals these days were expressing Grand Stupid Thought about the GST,” Modi said adding

“As they have robbed the country for 70 years they can only remember a robber (Gabbar Singh). They want imposition of 18 per cent tax rate on salt, shoes, clothes and other basic commodities used by commoners and at the same time want the GST to be reduced on alcohol, cigarettes and luxurious vehicles. They want the GST to be reduced from 28 per cent to 18 per cent for these products. What kind of pro poor people are they?,” he asked.

Mr Modi assured that the small big flaws in the new tax reform the government would be rectified.

On demonetization, the prime minister attacked the Congress party and said, “After looting the country’s exchequer, now they are talking of social welfare and screaming note ban, note ban, note ban all the way. They were losing election after election after the demonetization and even lost the Maharashtra local body polls badly after the implementation of GST.”
