Gandhinagar:
Unidentified miscreants vandalized two ST buses near Balwa crossing on Mansa-Gandhinagar road under Kalol Taluka police station of Gandhinagar district this afternoon and also tried to torch them.
However no passenger was injured.
Chief Fire Officer of Gandhinagar Mahesh Kumar Modh said that around 20 to 25 people covering their faces with cloth pieces and hankies, stopped two buses of Gujarat State Transport Corporation and forced the passengers to get down. They broke the window panes and buses of both the buses.
Later they also tried to torch the two buses. The front tyres of one of the buses were burnt while the second did not see much damage owing to torching. Two fire brigade vehicles reached the spot later and doused the fire.
Meanwhile police suspects the hands of a less known Rajput community outfit Mahakal Sena, which was holding demos against the apex court order lifting ban on film Padmavat in it. However it was not yet confirmed.
All the miscreants fled after the incident. Detailed investigation was on. No passenger suffered any injury in the incident. A police official said that the hands of anti Padmavat protesters could not be ruled out. In primary investigation the names of one Mahakal Sena has come to fore. Whoever was responsible for this vandalism would be brought to book and punished according to law. The two buses were said to be of Mansa and Ambaji depot.
