Heavy rains in Tapi, Valsad, Dang; Dosawada dam overflows, Songadh water logged, Damanganga river, Madhuban, Ukai dams get richer, Gira water fall alive again

Surat: There has been heavy rain in southern Gujarat districts of Valsad, Dang and Tapi in last 24 hours. Number of causeways and Dosawada dam are overflowing.
In Tapi district, Vyara, Valod and Songadh received heavy rains.
In Valsad, Madhuban dam witnessed inflow of 2.6 lakh cu sec following which 8 gates are opened in measurement of 3 meter to release 1 lakh cu sec water. 26 villages in downstream areas of Kaprada and Vapi are alerted.
In a relief to Surat city and district, the level of water at Southern Gujarat’s biggest Ukai dam is now 285.01.
In Union Territory Selvas, a youth was trapped in flowing water of Damanganga river. Police and fire brigade team could rescue the youth after gates of dam were closed to make rescue operation possible. Hilly areas of Kaprada in Valsad district received heavy rains following which all rivers and streams in downstream areas of Valsad district witnessed heavy inflow.
Dang district too received heavy rains including the areas of Saputara, Ahwa and Waghai. Some causeways are closed for traffic. Ahwa town has witnessed water logging. Gira water fall is alive at its peak again with fresh rounds of rains. Due to heavy rains in Dang, river Ambika is richer with heavy inflow of water. Low lying villages on the bank of river Ambika in district Navsari are alerted.
