Gandhinagar: In a latest in infighting in Gujarat Congress, the supporters of State party chief Amit Chavda have started attempting trend with hashtag of #ISupportAmitChavda ( I support Amit Chavda ). Several posts with this hashtag could be seen over social media platforms.

In one of such tweets, Congress cadre tweeted: ‘Whenever Congress gets a person dedicated to ideology, a leader who works, who is brave, who has base among people, who is young, efforts are made to turnish his image. This is not new. But truth is that Congress becomes further and further strong with such leader.’

This social media campaign is believed in reply to efforts being made within party to remove Amit Chavda from the post of state party chief.

In recent past, 17 major Congress leaders from across Gujarat had gathered at former state party chief Arjun Modhwadia’s residence in Ahmedabad. Post this meeting, party leaders Shailesh Parmar, Alpesh Thakor etc had expressed dissent against state party leadership over several issues. In a meeting called by state party incharge Rajeev Satav, 11 party MLAs had stayed absent. Recently party MLA from Unja Dr. Ashaben Patel resigned from party and from assembly.

In latest, a group of Hardik supporting MLAs in State Congress visited Delhi and called on State part incharge Rajeev Satav to make representation reportedly against state party chief Amit Chavda.

Chavda who has been victorious throughout in his constituency in Central Gujarat was selected as state party president by Congress president Rahul Gandhi as he was educated, he was young and he was constant winner in his constituency. Also he was not belonging to loyalist group of some leader.
