Amit Shah to contest from Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat

Gandhinagar: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has today announced its first list of Lok Sabha election candidates. The list contains 184 names. Among them only one candidate from Gujarat declared is party’s national president Amit Shah. Shah will contest from Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat which has been earlier represented by national leaders of BJP LK Advani and Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Gandhinagar is one of safest seats for BJP. Shah’s residence in Ahmedabad comes under this Lok Sabha constituency. Shah will be able to spend time for party campaign and election related issues elsewhere without worrying about victory on Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat. Shah is presently Rajya Sabha member from Gujarat. It is in a way possible that Rajya Sabha seat he will vacate in future will be given to LK Advani. Gujarat has total 26 Lok Sabha seats. State chief minister, state part president and organizational general secretary along with deputy chief minister Nitin Patel are likely to present the list of candidates shortlisted for rest of 25 seats before central election committee in Delhi tomorrow.

Update: BJP workers celebrated the announcement of Amit Shah as party candidate. MoS Pradipsinh Jadeja who joined this celebration said Shah’s candidature on Gandhinagar seat will make impact on all 26 Lok Sabha seats across Gujarat. BJP workers told media persons that Shah would not need to spare time for victory on this seat and party workers will take care of everything here. BJP Councillor Amit Popatlal Shah said the party workers will work in a way that Congress candidate on Gandhinagar seat will lose deposit. Local BJP MLA Bhupendra Patel said BJP’s victory margin on Gandhinagar seat will be up from 4.90 lakh last time to 7 to 8 lakh this time.

Meanwhile Congress party is going to field MLA C.J. Chavda on Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat.

In another development, Amit Shah’s wife joined party workers who were celebrating the announcement on Shah’s candidature from Gandhinagar seat. Shah’s wife refused to speak to media persons politely.
