Godhra: Sitting MP on Panchmahal seat in Central Gujarat, who has been denied ticket this time today announced his decision to contest the poll as Independent candidate.
After a meeting with his supporters he said that he would file his nomination papers on April 1.
Blaming that he could not get a party ticket due to conspiracy of his rival in the party and Chairman of Panchmahal Dairy Jetha Bharwad he claimed that Bharwad was afraid that if he would have been elected again Bharwad would have lost his position as chairman.
Party has given ticket to sitting BJP supporting independent MLA from Lunawada Ratansinh Rathod on the seat.
State party chief had later told media persons that Prabhatsinh was dropped due to age criteria. Prabhatsinh is 77. Party is not fielding those above 75.
Meanwhile it is learnt that BJP leaders were trying to pacify the Prabhatsinh and convince him not to contest the election.
Chauhan’s MLA daughter-in-law Sumanben meanwhile calles on and greeted Ratansinh and extended full support.
Both Prabhatsinh and Ratansinh are from other backward class (OBC).
