Savarkundla taluka Congress chief Malani, former MLA Shamji Chauhan leave Congress

Gandhinagar: Savarkundla taluka Congress chief Deepak Malani has resigned from Congress party and joined BJP. Malani was upset with leader of opposition and Amreli district Congress leader Paresh Dhanani. In another development, Shamji Chauhan who was seeking ticket to contest from Surendranagar Lok Sabha seat today resigned from Congress party. He said he was planning to contest as independent candidate. Chauhan who is former Chotila MLA said he would work to defeat Congress on all Koli community populated Lok Sabha seats. He said he was denied ticket by BJP previously during the assembly election and therefore he had worked against BJP to ensure party’s defeat on all assembly seats in Surendrangar district. This time he would work to ensure Congress’s defeat.
