Acid attack threat case: Vadodara Police arrest 8 including Zubair Pathan
April 27, 2019
Vadodara Sayajigunj police today said it has arrested 8 members of Pathan group including its leader Zubair Pathan. They are accused of issuing threat of acid attack to MS University Student Union Vice President Saloni Mishra. Police said they are booked under the charges of rioting and murder threat.
Saloni Mishra in her talk with media said, ‘when we, a group of female students were at University office, Zubair said look at their faces properly, we will throw acid on their faces. Zubair said this in presence of media and vigilance committee members. We submitted written application at Vice Chancellor office. We were concerned about how anti-social elements can enter the University campus without identity card, without being students of the university? We also submitted application at DCP office. We were told there were already many complains against Patha. We asked police inspector, that we didn’t want to make compromise and demanded strict action. Within hours, police arrested the accused. I am vice president representing 40,000 students. It’s not jsut about eve-teasing and Love Jihad against girls. Even boys face ragging from this group. Many girls fear from these elements. I stay here in hostel without my family, but I am extended all support by others here in my fight. This is no just a fight against Zubair Pathan. It is a fight against all those who create fear.’
