Fire incident: AMC suspends BU permission of Apple Children hospital in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has suspended Building Use (BU) permission of Apple Children’s hospital. The hospital has been given one-month time to vacate the premises. AMC has taken this decision due to lack of fire safety and no objection certificate(NOC). Apple hospital, located at Parimal cross roads on CG road had erected a shade structure atop the building where fire broke out. None was hurt or killed in this incident as the children undergoing treatment were on another floor. The hospital was served show-cause notice by AMC after the incident of fire.
AMC in its letter:
– Unauthorized canteen was functional on terrace
– Fire broke out there on 13th of May
– This caused damages to patients and general public
– Building Use permission is therefore suspended with effect from 27th of May
– New patients must not be admitted
– Provide details of patients presently admitted in hospital
– Do procedure to shift/discharge the patients in next seven days and inform the AMC about same
– Give a remply in seven days that why your hospital’s BU permission should not be canceled permanently
