Naroda MLA Thawani, local NCP lady Tejwani whom Thawani had assaulted, arrive at compromise, become brother-sister

Ahmedabad: BJP MLA Balram Thawani and local NCP cadre Nitu Tejwani arrived at compromise today afternoon. Balram was in soup after his video assaulting Nitu went viral last evening. Nitu and group of ladies and gents had visited Balram’s office last evening. Balram claimed he slapped and kicked Nitu in ‘heat of moment’.
Both Balram and Nitu had reached Meghaninagar police station late in the evening to file complaints. Police had received their application. Naroda assembly seat is Sindhi community populated area. Both Balram and Nitu are from Sindhi community. Leaders of Sindhi community had started efforts to make compromise on this issue which had originated over water connection related issue.
BJP had today made its stand clear and stated that state party chief had spoken with Balram over a phone call, reprimanded him and asked him to tender apology.
Balram today afternoon visited home of Nitu and tendered apology. Nitu tied Rakhi to Balram and sweets were exchanged. Nitu’s husband and Balram’s supporters were present on this occasion. Both declared that they were now brother-sister and the issue was over.
Backdrop
Balram Thwani is son of late BJP leader Khubchand Thawani. He has been Councillor for period as long as 15 years. He is first term MLA since December 2017. Barring yesterday’s incident, he has never been in news for wrong reasons in his prolong political career spanning over twenty years. Balram’s brother is municipal Councillor. He had managed to cut an illegal water supply connection to a wire factory last week. Nitu had protested it while her husband was shooting the incident in video. Agitated by live mobile video shooting and commentary, Balram’s councilor brother had attacked Nitu’s husband. Yesterday’s incident at Balram’s office occurred in this backdrop. Nitu said she had requested Balram’s Councillor brother not to cut water connection for two more days as she was opting for legal option. Balram had in his talk with one of Gujarati news channel alleged that Nitu who is leader of Sindhu Sena and NCP would seek money to protect illegal connections. Balram said Nitu and others had arrived at his office to make representation over lack of enough pressure in water pipeline in Jogeshwari area. Balram said he had asked them to come during working day in office hours so that he could call AMC officials. Balram said he had given bore well connection in Jogeshwari area and the locals told him that they had come to his office with Tejwani because they were offered money. Balram also claimed that he was assaulted first by some gents from back side and he had kicked Tejwani only in self defense in reaction. Balram had alleged that the entire episode was pre-planned in the backdrop of the incident in which an illegal water connection to factory was cut.
Update
BJP today served show cause notice to Naroda MLA Balram Thawani. State BJP president Jitubhai Vaghani in this notice asked Thawani to reply in three days, why actions for indiscipline should not be taken by party against him.
