3 newly elected BJP MLAs who won recently held bypolls in Gujarat take oath

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Assembly speaker Rajendra Trivedi today administered oath to the three newly elected MLAs of ruling BJP, who had won in the recently held by-polls.
Of the six seats on which by polls were held 3 each were won by BJP and Congress. The 3 congress MLAs would take oath on a later date.
Trivedi administered oath to BJP MLA Jinesh Sewak, who won from Lunawada seat in Mahisagar district, Ajmal Thakor who won from On Kheralu seat of Mahesana district and Jadish Patel who won from Amraiwadi seat of Ahmedabad in the by polls held on October 3.
Congress MLAs Raghu Desai from Radhanpur seat in Patan district, who defeated BJP’s Alpesh Thakor, Jashu Patel of Bayad seat in Aravalli district and Gulabsinh Rajput who won from Tharad seat in Banaskantha district would take oath on a later date.
So far in the assembly there were 173 members (One BJP, One Congress and One Independent disqualified and by-polls not yet held on those seats due to matter being in courts of law and 6 seats where by-polls were held), BJP had 100 while Congress had 69 seats. There is one independent and one of NCP and two of BTP. After the by polls results the number of BJP seats has increased to 103 and that of Congress to 72 and the total members number to 179.
