Works for Surat Metro rail project to start in June 2020: Gujarat govt.

Surat: The works for first phase of Surat Metro rail project will kick off in June 2020. The first phase will involve 40.35 km length. The project will be completed in five years.
While Sarthana – Dream City line will be 21.61 km long with 14 elevated stations, the other line connecting Bhesan and Saroli will be 18.74 km long with 18 elevated stations on route. The tenders of first phase works will be out shortly, said a note issued by the State government.
In a review meeting held to discuss the progress of Surat Metro rail project, Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) managing director S.S.Rathor shared the details of Surat Metro project with the Chief Minister, according to which the Government of India has given its approval in February this year to Rs. 12020.32 crore proposal presented by Gujarat government.
The procedure for necessary detailed design has been taken up and tender details are being prepared.
“Environmental Impact Assessment” (EIA) and “Social Impact Assessment” (SIA) procedures have also been started.
