DPS case: Court rejects anticipatory bail pleas of MD cum CEO, former trustee of Kalorex foundation and ex-principal

Ahmedabad: A local court here today rejected the anticipatory bail pleas of the MD cum CEO of the Kalorex foundation trust that ran Delhi Public School-East here, Manjula P Shroff, its former trustee Hiten Vasant and former principal Anita Dua in connection with a sensational case of fraud regarding alleged faking of documents and not following the legal procedure for obtaining various permissions for the school.
The school was recently in limelight for wrong reasons for leasing out its land illegally to the Ashram of controversial self styled god-man and rape-accused Swami Nithyanad.
The court rejected the anticipatory bail pleas filed by them.
The sessions court here observed that the charges leveled against the trio in the case lodged in Vivekanadnagar police station of Ahmedabad by a competent official of the Education department were serious. They might influence the case if granted bail.
Now the sword of arrest was hanging over them. The police had argued that if the trio was give anticipatory bail they could destroy the evidences against them.
The school situated in Hathijan area was in limelight for wrong reasons after it came to fore that it had illegally leased land to the Ashram and School of controversial self styled god-man Swami Nithyanad. Later during investigation it also came to fore that it was not having any CBSE affiliation for class 1 to 8 so far yet it charged hefty fees in the name of it. The trio had forged documents to obtain various permissions and affiliations for the school which was shut earlier but later allowed by the government to run till the end of this session only. It incumbent principal H Puri was also arrested in connection with the illegal leasing out of the land to Nithyanad Ashram. He was later released on bail.
