Gujarat govt nod to construct 24 hydraulic storage structure check dams in hilly Dang district

Gandhinagar: The Government of Gujarat today said the Chief Minister has given in-principle approval for construction of 24 hydraulic storage structure units over four major rivers of tribal populated district Dang at an estimated cost of Rs. 26 crore. Proposed structures will come up over rivers Purna, Gira, Khapri and Ambika and their branches in 24 villages of Ahwa, Subir and Vaghai talukas.
Due to hilly geography, Dang is not suitable for big water storage projects. Therefore small water projects are conceived.
The works proposed to be executed on Ambika and Khapri rivers and their distributaries will involve 10 check dam hydraulic structures at a total estimated ost of Rs. 1070.87 lakh. They shall cover Aherdi, Humbapada, Boradhad, Shivarimal, Chirapada, Supdahad in Vaghai taluka and Bilmal, Don, Pandva and Vaki (Umariya) in Ahwa taluka.
The works involving Purna, Gira and Khapri river and their sub branches will cover Khopriamba, Vankan, Kalibel, Pandharmal villages of Vaghai taluka and Harpada, Garakhdi, Dumarya, Katis, Dhuldha villages of Subir taluka apart from Dhavlidod and Nandanpeda in Ahva taluka at total estimated cost of Rs. 1603.16 lakh through 14 hydraulic structure check dams.
