Gujarat High Court stays lower court proceedings against MoS Home Jadeja in model code violation case

Ahmedabad: Giving relief to Gujarat Minister of State for Home Pradipsinh Jadeja, the Gujarat high court today put a stay on the lower court trial in a case pertaining to alleged violation of the model code of conduct during the last assembly election in 2017, in which the metropolitan court here had also ordered to lodge an FIR in the matter against him.
City Congress president Pankaj Shah had filed the complaint in this regard. He had made the complaint that a booklet/Pamphlet was distributed by Jadeja in during the poll campaign on October 10 that year the occasion of Navratri in which there was no mention of the publisher or printer. Pictures of PM Narendra Modi and his own photo was on the booklet. It also contained holy writing about Mother goddess and a slogan was also written on it. The booklet had the name of Jadeja also printed on it as courtesy distributor.
The competent authorities had filed a case in this regard in the metro court here which had in December last year ordered to file an FIR against him. Jadeja had moved Gujarat high court in this matter last month. The provision of punishment in this case was of 6 months simple imprisonment and fine.
The high court has stayed the lower court order and proceeding till the hearing of the matter by it.
